KillerStar Webpage
The world's longest-running regularly scheduled punk/hardcore radio program. Music from the U.S. and the world, interviews, record & ticket giveaways. Hosted by Steve Kreitzer (turmoilradio@gmail.com).
Turmoil is back on the air!! Starting with the September 11th show, Turmoil can be heard every other week! The show starts at 8:00pm and runs to 11:00pm.
Some other things deserving mention:
- From 8:30pm - 9:00pm I present "Davie Jones Locker", a half hour dedicated to anything David Bowie related, whether covers; rarities; musicians who have worked with David Bowie; or originals. Playlists are posted on the site
- Please check out "Live from the Underground: A History of College Radio", by Katherine Rye Jewell. There's a few pages that make mention of Turmoil Radio that you may find interesting. Available through Amazon or Live from the Underground. Here is a link to an interview with Katherine conducted by Marc Stern of WMBR 88.1fm, MIT, that discusses Turmoil: Radio With A View
- Back in the mid-2000's, I donated the entire Turmoil Collection of records, tapes, cd's, band correspondence, and other material related to the show, to the Stony Brook University Archives. These are available for researchers or other interested folks. For information, you can go to Turmoil Archives
- Starting in 2002 I was Station Manager for SBU-TV, Stony Brook University's student run and operated television station, until it was deliberately shut down by the student government to help fund a concert by Bruno Mars. I will be posting some of the material that I was able to salvage before the staff and I were locked out of the studios.
Update June 2024: I have resurrected the Turmoil website after it being down for almost a decade. Within it you will find: all playlists that I mailed out to bands/labels starting in 1983 through to my last show which aired on May 19, 2004; all programs of the show which I had recorded, (which can be found here: Interviews); and assorted odds and ends from my years at WUSB. There are some portions which still need work, (such as "Favorite Sites", as most don't exist anymore). I never expected there would be a demand for this, so for those of you who asked for it back, here it is. Thanks.
You can listen to Turmoil online at WUSB
And while you're here, why not check out the rest of WUSB's schedule. There's a lot of other cool programs on the air...
Take Care!
Steve.
